I observed a few details of my neighborhood transmission tower
It was a sunny cool day — perfect for a little field reconnaissance.
Complete tower structure, base plan dimension is 16' x 32'
'Post' angles are L5 x 5 x 5/16<br />diagonal angles are mixed <br />L2 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 3/16, L2 x 2 x 1/8, and L1 1/2 x 1 1/2 x 3/16
'Post' anchorage L5 x 5 x 3/8, gusset is PL 3/8, bolts are 5/8" diameter

Strong axis bracing pattern, bolts are 5/8 diameter (2" gage with 7/8" CL to end of angle)
Weak axis bracing pattern, bolts are 5/8 diameter (2" gage with 7/8" CL to end of angle)
Six bracing members tightly connected
Two through-braces; four discrete braces
