Looking for a and b — I accidentally re-proved the Pythagorean theorem Feb 2026

Referring to the diagram, I needed the formulas for a and b.

It's been quite a while since I took geometry, I proceeded to derive the formulas that I couldn't recall.

I got my formulas and realized I had re-proven the theorem of Pythagoras.
