Most of the unexpected has come at me from the outside but this came from within. I’m now reading On Writing Well by William Zinsser, and enjoying it.
In keeping my blog, I’ve focused on the material, as an engineer might, but have recently found more sense of purpose in the exercise of writing. I’m looking forward to editing past blog entries.
For many years, I’ve said “Let’s clear out the jungle’; let’s draw boundaries of interest and then make sense of that within.” My boundaries of interest have tightly overlapped as in a Venn diagram. The pleasure has been in the ‘clearing’. I realize late that I’ve been, therefore, just ‘gardening’. No sin to be a gardener but mostly dispensing with wild and disorder, now appears unwise.
Catching this pretty late in life.
